CRAZY & Full of Education!!!

Yes life got a little crazy--can it get any crazier than it seems to be all the time--don't ask a question like that or the answer will become YES!!!!!  Emily was doing so good with her Chemo treatments and Mom jinxed her by thinking wow this is a breeze and pretty soon we will all be on Veta's make-a-wish vacation and be on our every 3 week doses of Chemo instead of weekly.  Emily still has all her hair, she hasn't got sick at all and the kids are enjoying Fridays with Grandparents.  Doctors encouraged us to get Emily back to school  I was counting my blessings and I guess the Lord was ready to help me learn and grow again as everything changed in an instant.  Sunday clothes were set out and everyone was ready for our almost last weekly Friday chemo treatment.  Then we got home from it on Friday and Emily began getting sick and by Sunday we were in the ER (not at church) getting blood work, IV Antibiotics and fluids.  Luckily she recovered quickly and made it to 3 hours of school on Tues., Wedn., & Thursday.  Then it was back for Friday Chemo and she seemed to do okay and then again by the time we got home she was tired and not looking so good.  Within a half hour of being home the vomitting started.  Movies don't overdramatize it either.  Every 20-30 minutes she was over a bucket.  Her body got weaker by the moment and Saturday brought us to the ER again.  Then Monday morning brought us to the Dr. and Home Health was scheduled for IV fluids.  By Tuesday afternoon we were in the ER again for more blood tests, IV antibiotics, and fluids.  Then sent home on Fluids and with home health to come in and do IV antibiotics 3 times a day.  And Friday we went back in for what would be our last weekly Chemo treatment.  Not so.  She was too weak and her numbers were too low and no chemo could be administered and instead we were admitted to the inpatient oncology floor.  By this time she could not sit up on her own and was not eating and drinking very little.  She looked so tired and ill that sometimes the only comfort Mom could get would be to know that she was still breathing.  She perked up a little in the hospital and was only there for 3 days.  We still went home on steady fluids and antibiotics, but I was able to get trained on how to do them so home health only came once a day to check vitals.  She was still very weak and not eating,  but we went back again on Friday to see if we were up for Chemo.  Her numbers were up, but she was still weak and they gave us until this Friday to recover.  We have been off IV antibiotics and fluids since Friday and we have a little more energy--thank goodness.  So hopefully we are again on uphill happier chemo days--We will see tomorrow.  Meantime Emily has lost a lot of her hair and has been asking if Chemo makes people die. Grandma Jensen had a friend that had a daughter that had cancer and is in remission and gone through this before come and talk to Emily--wow what a blessing for all of us.  Grandma also found a web site of an organization that gives hats to patients with hair loss to Cancer and other diseases.  We are now awaiting a delivery from Heavenly Hats--for absolutely free.  We are going to try and help this organization--look for details in later blog.  As for the "DIEING" question.  Mom did her best not to burst into tears--which come alot lately--as she said sometimes, but that it was usually the disease being treated with the Chemo and other things that caused the death.  Then before Mom could explain more Emily said "Mom, it is okay because if I do have to Die it will be okay because you won't have to take care of me so much anymore and I will come back with Jesus when he comes back--we wouldn't have to miss eachother for too long."  I was taught the gospel by my 7 year old with perfect faith.  These are the moments that keep me going.  WOW--the lessons that I am learning from these experiences are amazing.  Oh and by the way we should be at Great Wolf Lodge right now, but Doctors said Emily was not up to a trip and we will have to wait until later for our get-a-way.  I guess it will still give us something to look forward to.  This experience has not yet brought me to silence-sorry--I can still talk(write) too much.  Hopefully one day our story will not only help us to remember all our blessings, but will help to give others courage.  Emily still does her best to smile through the trials.  In fact her sisters, friends, doctors, & Nurses said they missed her Smile and Giggles when she was so sick.  We are happy to say they are back and we will keep them FOREVER.
